Why Don't My Shower Gels Lather? by Anne Keefe

The other day I had a question why our shower gels don't lather compared to others.  I thought this would be a good time to address this question with all of you.

The reason why our shower gels are not full of bubbly lather is because our shower gels do not contain an ingredient called sodium laurel sulfate.  It is why in our website description it says "sulfate free"    Sodium Laurel Sulfate is a foaming agent-it is a chemical that you do not want in your personal care products.

Our shower gels are awesome!  They gently cleanse the skin, lock in moisture, and rejuvenates your skin cells to keep your skin soft and youthful feeling.   Yes, they cost more than Walmart and Target name brand shower gels, but our organic herbal infusion of ingredients are expensive--I will not compromise the integrity of our shower gel for cheaper and unsafe ingredients for any of you.

The following is very good information to keep in mind when telling your friends why our products are different from other mass-produced products.

So why is a dangerous chemical like sodium lauryl sulfate used in soaps and shampoos?*

The answer is simple - it is cheap. The sodium lauryl sulfate found in soaps is exactly the same as you would find in a car wash or even a garage, where it is used to degrease car engines.

In the same way as it dissolves the grease on car engines, sodium lauryl sulfate also dissolves the oils on your skin, which can cause a drying effect. It is also well documented that it denatures skin proteins, which causes not only irritation, but also allows environmental contaminants easier access to the lower, sensitive layers of the skin.

Perhaps most worryingly, SLS is also absorbed into the body from skin application. Once it has been absorbed, one of the main effects of sodium lauryl sulfate is to mimic the activity of the hormone Oestrogen. This has many health implications and may be responsible for a variety of health problems from PMS and Menopausal symptoms to dropping male fertility and increasing female cancers such as breast cancer, where oestrogen levels are known to be involved.

As always, I hope this information is helpful when considering an EclipseSpa product.

Thank you for shopping at EclipseSpa.com,
